This issue of our magazine is fully focused on Ms Vivienne Stacey, a lifelong missionary in the Muslim World. You will find her major writings in this issue on our frontpage. If you click the button Vivienne Stacey you find many other articles by her hand; we will continue to upload new articles there, so keep coming back!

This week we received the news that our sister Shirley Madany has passed away; her husband, Rev. Bassam Madany, regularly contributes to our magazine. We wish him comfort of God in the certainty that his beloved wife is now with our Lord. Let us pray for Bassam.

We have also made dozens of articles by Bassam and Shirley Madany available in the past weeks. Under the button Madany's you find them.

Please let us know how we can improve St Francis Magazine so that it serves your needs in mission in the Arab World!

PRAYER UPDATE: Update on Arab Christian called in by Secret Police

An Arab Christian working for a Christian ministry in another Arab country has been arrested, informed he will be deported but has not yet arrived in his own country. It is not known where he is being detained.

A Church's landlord has been told to evict a church that has met in his property for ten years.

On 27th February we asked for prayer concerning an Arab Christian working for a ministry in another Arab country who had been called for an interrogation by the secret police. Local Christians were concerned that our brother would be asked to give the names of those from a majority faith background that have chosen to follow Jesus. If he refused then the police would probably verbally abuse him and might physically abuse him as well. There was also the risk that they would deport him. On 13th March we reported that he had been questioned for five hours but was not physically abused nor deported.

We regret to report that the secret police called our brother for questioning a second time. On 18th March he was arrested and told he would be deported on the 22nd. However, his family report that he has not yet arrived in his own country. It is not known where he is in custody.

On 13th March we reported that a church’s landlord had been summoned to a meeting with the secret police. We regret to report that the landlord was given 30 days to remove the church from his property. The church has met there since 1998. The minister is concerned that the church will be prevented from renting property anywhere else, forcing it to close. It has a thriving church programme and is the base for a wider ministry.

Middle Eastern Christians request our continued prayers that.

  • Our brother will be released immediately
  • The church will be provided with a means to meet for worship and to serve it local community
  • The wider ministry will likewise find a way to continue operating effectively
  • The secret police will stop harassing this ministry and church
  • Christians will not be intimidated but live in the power and presence of Jesus
  • All officials involved will be exposed to the truth of Jesus and respond to His love for them
